Why Filters Are Important

Filters remove dirt and particulate from the air that can impact your health and reduce the effectiveness of your HVAC equipment
The air we breathe is not very clean; in fact it contains a variety of microorganisms from many sources including bacteria, fungal spores, and viruses, not to mention the chemical particles that are caused by pollution.
Numerous studies have shown that the buildup of contaminants inside occupied spaces have caused discomfort and illness to building occupants. Our immune systems all react differently to these toxins but they still effect us. Filters strain out these toxins capturing particulates, safegaurding you from these threats.
Filters also play an important role in energy efficiency. Without a filter your equipment would eventually accumulate dirt on the surfaces of your coils robbing your equipment of effective heat/cooling transfer.
Filters collect the particles that would otherwise pass through your system. They can only hold so much dirt before they become restrictive to airflow; that is why regular filter changes are necessary.
